Congratulations to Vicky Doan-Nguyen for being awarded a prestigious UC President’s post-doctoral fellowship.  In collaboration with grad student Vicky, her group at UPenn, and scientists at ESRF, the European synchrotron, we discovered an interesting connection between glassy disorder seen in small metallic nanoparticles and in the technologically interesting bulk metallic glasses (BMGs):
